A candle altar service is also known as the setting of lights. Setting Lights is a prayer, a simple form of spellwork, to aid in helping achieve a desired goal. It is sometimes called a candle vigil or a candle altar service. Setting lights is one of the more recent additions to hoodoo/conjure work and one of the easiest. Candle magic is an ancient form of magic.

Basic Setting of Lights

When setting lights, dress a 7 Day Vigil Candle (a long tall candle encased with glass) with the appropriate condition oils, powders, and herbs for your intention and purpose. Once dressed, the candle is set upon a written spiritual petition paper or name paper, which has also been dressed with the appropriate oils and herbs. Psalm-Work, and/ or the rituals of prayer and/or chanting or reciting requests over them are done daily, and then the candle is allowed to burn straight through where it's been set into the glass casing. If you wish, you can employ the use of magical seals from the 6th and 7th Book of Moses, or other powerful amulets. Set these lights on your altar. A Candle Divination is done based on the ancient art of ceromancy which is divination by wax.
